...this was gonna be another ludicrous rant about my continued war against mediocrity in the genre writing market - there truly are some real mediocre talents out there peddling their trade, having their books published and getting on with satisfying the customer. Hey, if that's what the customer wants, then he's right, right?

After my return from my recent holiday in sunny southern Spain I'd resolved to start the ANTI-MEDIOCRITY LEAGUE -- the idea being that I'd gather around me writers with guts, writers with attitude, and above all writers with talent and we'd CRUSH all those mediocre fucks and sloppy genre hacks into the dust with our collective boot heel.

But, you know what? I had an ever more transparent anti-mediocrity yardstick whacking me across the hairy, white ass. Chimeraworld 4 (All Cars Must Die) is the most metalic and flesh filled fantasy work I have ever read. With turns and curves that will make you cream one second and blow chunkc the next. The intricate twisting and turning of metal with mortal souls and grizzle beings being turned to solid metal masses in one turn of a page had me wanting more till the book ended and I wished I was dead.....or so they say all car's must die. Keep them coming brother.

Congratulations to the finalists of this year's Chimeraworld selection process - these are 23 of the sickest, weirdest, strangest, most exhilarating stories I've ever had the privilege to receive. As you'll see there are a lot of English writers in this year's anthology and a lot of female writers, which gladdens my wretched heart.

Tonight I did something really bad.

Anthony Cain had a short story in CW2 called "This Colossal Wreck (or fuck you and the virus you rode in on)". Then I recently find he's done a promo for CW2. I've just witnessed his first draft of the "atheist, misogynist, terrorist" promo --- and to say you'll like it is an understatement.

Yeah, Chimeraworld #3 is due for paperback publication via Chimericana Books - I've just finalised the galley, sent out the details to the lads (and the couple of lasses) who contributed to this year's literary debauchery. I'm not sure if it's the content or the theme necessarily but it's really depressed me to finally have this book out of the way. I just have no impetus to do anything at all. Off to bed early tonight. Hopefully tomorrow, the world will have ended and I won't have to endure the fallout of my actions.

I fear I may be out of luck with this wish.

The writers of CW3 are slowly coming out of the woodwork to voice their opinions about their Chimeraworld #3 stories.
